In an exciting US Open final, Efren Reyes turns back the clock to defeat Shane Van Boening.

On Sunday, April 22, at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, pool history will never be the same as Filipino superstar Efren Reyes upset Shane Van Boening 13–10 to win his 14th US Open Pool Championship. The scheduled race-to-13 final began at 3 p.m. local time, with 67-year-old Reyes hoping to make history as the oldest player to win one of the sport’s most coveted championships. Van Boening, a 39-year-old South Dakotan who has won five US Open titles, was his opponent.  The match that ensued was a generational showdown, with the senior Reyes defeating his younger, high-scoring opponent with a throwback demonstration of shotmaking mastery and unwavering composure under extreme stress. It was immediately clear to the packed house at the Tropicana Showroom that they were about to see something extraordinary. Reyes lost the first three racks, but he showed why he was called “The Magician” when he won six of the following seven racks with some incredible pots.  To create simple runout possibilities, the fervent Filipino was rolling the cue ball with laser-like accuracy and a powerful combination of spin and power. Reyes jumped off to a 6-4 lead while Van Boening, who is typically so productive at the table, was having trouble getting a foothold. When it appeared as though the cunning veteran would easily win the match, Van Boening steadied himself with consecutive racks to tie the score at 6-6. For the following hour, every ball potted became increasingly significant as the two players engaged in a tactical, low-scoring arm struggle.  Whether it was creating crazy cut-angle spins to escape circumstances that seemed unachievable or hitting a full-table linear route for the position, neither guy was backing down. They were using every trick in their respective arsenals. The degree of talent displayed by the masters of the green cloth left the spectators in awe. Nevertheless, Reyes was always first among equals, barely able to stave off his formidable opponent with calmly cool clearances under the most intense lighting. Specifically, at 9–9, the Filipino produced a spectacular leap over a blocking ball and then collected a normally inch-perfect runout to take the lead once again.  Van Boening must have believed his opportunity was lost as Reyes built a string of 90+ clusters in a row to move one rack from triumph at 12-9. However, demonstrating his championship grit, the American came back with a series of amazing multi-rail kick shots that significantly cut his deficit to 12-10. As Reyes approached the table and asked for just one more rack for history, the tension in the Tropicana Showroom was evident. But on the last rack, Van Boening snookered Reyes twice behind the 9-ball, setting him up for a devilishly difficult exit.  In the end, though, the old master was not to be denied on this day. Reyes produced one final piece of sublime cue artistry, caressing the cue ball around three separate rails to sink the 9-ball in the corner and finally claim his record 14th US Open crown amidst raucous celebrations. The moment was poignant, with the great Filipino being surrounded by his fellow countrymen and sobbing at the end of a performance fit for the ages. Though understandably upset, Van Boening joined in the heartfelt cheers for one of the greatest pool players ever. “I may be growing older, but my love in life is this game. Reyes composed himself and remarked, “I love competing, and that feeling you get when you make a tough shot is unlike anything else.” “Being a fantastic player like Shane, I knew I needed to do something very unique to defeat him today. On a day like this, I’m really happy to have been able to display my finest pool skills.”  Van Boening, 39, showered in compliments for the genius of his conqueror: “Efren was just too brilliant tonight. That’s the best pocket-billiards player there is. It’s astounding that he can still perform that at his age.” “I have no regrets, but I did have my opportunities. Picasso had just finished creating his masterpiece. I was limited to seeing and appreciating the brilliance.” Reyes was competing in only his fourth event of the season thus far, having undergone minor heart surgery late in the previous year, which added to the already incredible story of his historic victory.  About 50 years after making his debut as one of pool’s first genuinely worldwide superstars, the Filipino’s unquenchable competitive fire is still burning as fiercely as ever at an age when most players would be putting their feet up. Reyes’s most recent triumph solidifies his enduring reputation as one of the most exceptionally gifted acumens who have ever graced the green baize. Although the notorious ‘Colour of Money’ match contributed to his legacy, his most recent US Open masterclass may be his greatest accomplishment.  Reyes‘ standing in the tight-knit world of the professional pool is already established. However, his incredible feats in Atlantic City add yet another remarkable chapter to solidify his reputation as a genuine sports marvel in the eyes of the general public. For those who were lucky enough to watch this instant masterpiece, confirmed as such, it was an honour to witness a master perform one more pure masterpiece at the pinnacle of his profession.

Djokovic overcomes Tsitsipas to win his tenth Australian Open title.

After four hours and sixteen minutes of exhilarating tennis at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, Novak Djokovic overcame Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6(4), 3-6, 4-6, 6-1 on the final night of the 2024 Australian Open. It was a true masterpiece. Playing for the first Grand Slam championship of the year, the top two players in the world faced off in an exciting final that began at 7:30 p.m. local time on a warm summer’s evening. What ensued was a psychological and physical duel to the death between the ravenous 35-year-old Serb and his 24-year-old Greek opponent.  Djokovic struck first, breaking in the sixth game and finishing the opening set 6-3 with ease, all in just 39 minutes of play. The number one seed seemed to be extremely perceptive and eerily tuned in from the start. To his immense credit, Tsitsipas, who began to pose a threat to Djokovic with his powerful baseline groundstrokes, recovered well to force a tiebreak in the second set. After this, the 21-time Grand Slam winner was never less resolute; he won the breaker 7-4 after trailing 4-3 at one point.  A spectacular backhand winner by Djokovic, who appeared to be wrong-footed at the time, was seen on camera as he quickly changed foot placement and transferred his weight to crush a crosscourt missile. Vintage stuff from the Serb. It seemed as though Tsitsipas’s time was running out at two sets to love up and with a 16-match winning streak in the Australian Open finals. However, as he has repeatedly demonstrated throughout his brief career, the Greek is a fierce rival who never backs down.  Encouraged by a sizable group of Greek Australian spectators, Tsitsipas began to dominate forehand strokes and found more shot weight to force Djokovic back behind the baseline. It paid off as the third seed won the third set 6-3 and then took the early lead in the fourth set as the tide turned. All of a sudden, Djokovic was there, appearing worn out and maybe sensing the passing of time. In the fourth set, Tsitsipas was able to tie the match at 6-4, igniting a raucous cheer from the anticipating spectators and setting up an exciting fifth and decisive set.  Before the last verse, both players took a comfort break as the drama and anxiety inside Rod Laver Arena reached a fever pitch. Who will overcome their agony to leave their mark on history? The reason was soon apparent, as Djokovic gave it everything he had to reclaim his match poise and merciless aggressiveness. Surprisingly, the top seed seemed to gain strength as the match progressed, bludgeoning deep groundstrokes that overpowered Tsitsipas’s defence.  After winning the fifth set 6-1 to complete the most arduously fought straight-set victory, Djokovic fell to the court in celebration of his tenth Australian Open title. The critical break came at 3-1. He becomes the second man in the Open Era to win 22 Grand Slam singles championships, behind Rafael Nadal. In the crucial moments, Djokovic was just too excellent, as Tsitsipas humbly admitted afterwards. In the fifth set, the Serb’s extraordinary defence and counterpunching left the great champion flat-footed and unprepared for the daring Greeks.  “There was a fine line throughout the entire contest. One or two points can swing these sorts of matches very rapidly, so I just kept telling myself to be present in the moment,” Djokovic remarked. “That was the most physically and psychologically taxing five-set match I have ever played. It’s nice to overcome it and achieve such a historic Grand Slam title. For Tsitsipas, despite the heartbreaking nature of the loss, there is plenty to be grateful for. He’s making a name for himself as a fighter who can compete on the grandest stages against the greatest fighters of all time.  “I was out there swinging and believing I could win up until the very last point,” Tsitsipas explained. “To take a champion like Novak to nearly five hours, with the chances I had, that’s very promising for my game.” As Djokovic continues to advance with unwavering determination, Tsitsipas will soon have his moment in the spotlight as a multiple Grand Slam winner if he continues on this current path. One of the most spectacular and excellent Grand Slam finals in recent memory will be remembered as this most recent classic between the two. With its unique combination of technical mastery and psychological warfare played out to the very end, the intense match illustrated all the reasons why tennis is a drama that you just must witness.  It was an honour for the supporters inside Rod Laver to watch two fighters give it their all on the Melbourne battlefield. They were given a night they will never, ever forget, and they flowed out of the famous arena as the clock approached midnight. The unfathomable talent that is Novak Djokovic has once again shown why he is the most psychologically tough and tenacious player of his time by becoming the first person to win ten Australian Open titles. It was a really impressive feat.

Amazing Momota Wins the All-England Open Instant Classic Against Axelsen

On Sunday, March 19, the Utilita Arena in Birmingham hosted one of the best badminton matches in recent memory. Kento Momota won the famous All England Open men’s singles title by defeating Viktor Axelsen 24-22, 19-21, and 21-18.  The highly anticipated match between the two best players in the world lived up to the enormous hype, as the Japanese and Danish superstars displayed incredible athleticism and stroke-making throughout a thrilling 77-minute match. Axelsen took the initiative to grab a 9–6 lead in the first game following some tense early exchanges. The large Dane appeared to have prevailed against Momota thanks to his sideways court movement and smashes that resembled bullets.  However, the Japanese lefty remains a persistent figure. With his characteristic whippy power, he dug deep and started hitting the shuttle, launching a flurry of wins from the back of the court to pull Axelsen back in at 12-12. What transpired was a gladiatorial contest between two of the world’s most athletically fit and explosive athletes. As they exchanged furious rallies, neither gave an inch, frantically trying to recover the other’s sharpest angles.  When the score was tied at 20, it appeared as though Axelsen had finally delivered the game-winning punch. However, Momota responded with three incredible baskets and a game-saving save to somehow win the first game 24–22 after 33 frenzied minutes. If the first game demonstrated the two fighters’ strength and energy, the second game emphasized their extraordinary defensive skills and mental toughness. Axelsen gave away an 18-16 lead, but he rallied brilliantly to tie the match by winning the second 21-19.  Both players elevated their game even further in the finale, if that was even possible, and the intensity that characterized the semifinals persisted. The audience was exposed to gladiatorial physical and mental confrontations during rallies that lasted more than 30 shots, with neither side wanting to give up. After a furious start, Axelsen jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but Momota, who never gives up, regained his calm and started to fight his way back. The Arena exploded in roars in admiration of the outstanding abilities on show when the world #2 tied the match at 14-14.  Ultimately, Momota’s unwavering consistency and the might of his groundstrokes were what won out. The Japanese sensation persevered despite many lung-busting rallies to close the gap, maintaining perfect length and accuracy. Serving for the match at 20-17, Momota overcame two nervous errors before completing a picture-perfect driving net shot to earn his fourth championship point. He let out a yell of happiness that was equal parts sheer joy and tiredness from being pushed to the limit.  Axelsen, who was equally exhausted but gracious in his loss, gave Momota a hearty hug at the net to honour his formidable opponent for an extraordinary performance. Enthralled by their great shot-making and battling spirit, the Birmingham crowd gave them each a standing ovation.  In retrospect, Momota remarked that to defeat Axelsen in a bout that would live in legend status, he had to muster every last ounce of will. “Viktor had a fantastic defence, and I had to fight hard to score every point. The Japanese celebrity stated, “There were times when I thought my body was going to give up, but I simply tried to stay focused one shot at a time. “The purpose of playing is to put oneself to the test against the world’s top players in matches like this. I’m simply happy that I was able to prevail in the end.”  Naturally, Axelsen was devastated by the loss, but he was quite proud of his performance in the United Kingdom. “I left everything out there today, so I can’t be too disappointed with my effort, even though I wanted to win the title,” said the Dane. “Kento is such an exceptional player and I had to produce some of the best badminton of my career just to take it to a decider.” “Matches like this one between Kento and myself are elevating the game to new levels. We are contributing to badminton’s illustrious history.”  Both newbies and badminton enthusiasts who were fortunate enough to watch this historic match in Birmingham shared that opinion. The shuttle skills of Momota and Axelsen had the audience in stitches from beginning to end, even though rally sports sometimes fall short of truly capturing their brilliance on television. Fans of men’s badminton will be expecting many more epic matches between the greatest players in the world as the sport continues its explosive ascent to prominence on the international scene, given the present depth of skill in the sport.  The extraordinary drama, talent, and winning mentality displayed by the unbreakable Momota and Axelsen in this All-England final will undoubtedly become an iconic point of reference. An amazing advertisement showcasing badminton at its most exciting.

Barcelona outlasts Real Madrid in the El Clásico thriller in injury time.

With significant ramifications for the La Liga championship race, it was hailed as one of the biggest El Clásico meetings in recent memory. The most recent meeting of the fiercest rivalry in Spanish football lived up to expectations, with Barcelona defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in the 92nd minute at the Santiago Bernabéu.  Everything you could want was there in the match: amazing skill, contentious calls, a thrilling environment, and nonstop drama from beginning to end. With 12 games left, the Catalans came out on top, moving 12 points clear of the opposition as the final whistle rang.  For most of the tense first half, Barcelona was second-best. The first goal of the match was scored in the ninth minute as Vinicius Jr. raced through and slotted past Marc-Andre ter Stegen after Karim Benzema’s promptly awarded free-kick caught the Barca defence off guard. But the advantage was short-lived—after only six minutes, Raphinha scored an incredible goal into the far corner after grabbing a superb outside-of-the-boot ball from Sergio Busquets.  After that, Real seemed more likely to grab the lead again thanks to several deft stops from Fede Valverde and Karim Benzema by Ter Stegen. When Ferland Mendy fouled Raphinha in the 37th minute and was maybe unfortunate to get a second yellow card, it became the major talking point. Five minutes into the second half, Barcelona took advantage of having an extra man in the game. Due to the confusion created by Alejandro Balde’s low cross in the Madrid box, Sergi Roberto was able to bundle home the goal from close range.  The hosts equalized in the 63rd minute after both teams made aggressive substitutes as the game appeared to be evenly balanced. Dani Carvajal squared for Benzema to score his 27th goal of the season with a signature elegant finish after some nice play on the edge of the area.  As the drama and intensity reached a fever pitch in the last quarter, there were opportunities on both sides. Gavi, a young midfielder for Barcelona, unexpectedly missed a clear header from close range. On the opposite side, Ter Stegen stopped Benzema and Antonio Rudiger’s rebound with a world-class double save.  Just as it appeared like a thrilling 2-2 tie would decide the points, Barcelona produced a brilliant move in the final seconds. Substitutes Ansu Fati and Frenkie de Jong applied intense pressure, forcing Dani Carvajal to make a hurried clearance that fell to Roberto, who scored his first half-volley from 25 yards out, curling into the bottom corner. The travelling Barcelona supporters were treated to scenes of frenzied jubilation as Roberto ripped off his jersey in a fit of ecstasy. Real Madrid’s players, meanwhile, fell to their knees in anguish after having let up such a devastating late loss. Barcelona eventually provided superior value for the outcome, having created the majority of the better opportunities. Their perseverance and tenacity captured the essence of Xavi, even though the performance wasn’t entirely traditional.  Player of the game Raphinha was at his rampaging best down the right wing, using his direct dribbling to harass the Real defenders all night long and scoring the game’s most brilliant individual goal. The Brazilian personified Barca’s unadulterated will to battle. There will always be a sense of what might have been for Real Madrid if Mendy hadn’t been given that contentious red card. Before being down to 10 players, Carlo Ancelotti’s team dominated and duly equalized in the second half.  However, they were exposed by Barca’s high defensive line and lack of backup cover due to well-known defensive errors that ultimately proved to be their downfall. Regarding the manner of Roberto’s thrilling victory, the hosts have nothing to complain about. In the fight for the La Liga championship, the outcome is seismic. Even with 12 games remaining, Barcelona must completely surrender if they are to waste their huge advantage. Real Madrid has to get back together and give their entire attention to retaining the Champions League title.  With outstanding talent, roughness, controversy, and tremendous drama right up to the very end, this was a true El Clásico classic. This rivalry has gained a lot of attention because of matches like these.

Manchester United Defeated City In A Thrilling Derby Day Victory

On Sunday, January 14, Old Trafford played host to one of the most exciting Manchester derbies in recent memory as United defeated their rowdy neighbours City 3-2 in a Premier League classic. Anticipation was heightened by the midday start, as the premier English football match began at 12:30 pm in the winter sun. When the two teams emerged to the famous Z Cars theme, an atmosphere of characteristic ferocity flared throughout the historic stadium. After just seven minutes, Erling Haaland continued his incredible scoring streak, and the visitors took the lead. The Norwegian giant brushed past Rafael Varane and Harry Maguire with incredible strength before launching a powerful shot into the far corner. Marcus Rashford, who was playing brilliantly, helped United react by tying the score in the twenty-first. Luke Shaw slipped in the English forward on a quick counterattack, and he opened up his body and finished with a spectacular left-footed effort that found the far bottom corner.  An engaging, end-to-end first-half performance was provided by two of the league’s top-scoring clubs. When Riyad Mahrez attempted a diving shot from 20 yards out and struck the crossbar, City came agonizingly close to seizing the lead again. Ten minutes before the half, United took advantage of some careless City defence to take the lead for the first time. Casemiro headed a deep free-kick back across goal, allowing Raphael Varane to outjump Ederson and score from close range.  At halftime, Pep Guardiola made two substitutions in an attempt to find an equalizer: Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden. Shortly before the hour, a tussle in the United box saw the ball fall nicely for Alvarez, who lashed high into the net as a result of the alterations paying off. With each side launching wave after wave of attack in an attempt to find a winner, the match was suddenly living up to the enormous hype that preceded it. Mahrez attempted a piledriver, but David De Gea made an amazing fingertip stop to divert it into the post.  As the last ten minutes drew near, the moment of truth arrived under dubious circumstances. An intense scuffle broke out in the City 6-yard box as a result of a corner taken by United; Manuel Akanji seemed to be struck in the arm as he attempted to confront Varane. Referee Michael Oliver was requested to examine the situation on the pitchside monitor after first dismissing the loud United pleas with a wave. Oliver pointed to the spot to give a penalty for handball, much to the dismay of the City players and supporters.  Bruno Fernandes ascended to score a penalty kick, squeezing it just inside the right-hand post, sending Ederson reeling and setting up wild celebrations in the United end. In true Portuguese fashion, the playmaker put his fingers to his lips to “shush” the city supporters. With a closing-minute assault from City on the United goal, there was still time for one more twist. They came agonizingly close to a dramatic equalizer, but after De Gea had parried Foden’s first shot, Haaland somehow blasted over from six yards.  Upon hearing the full-time whistle, the disparity in feelings was evident. The players from United erupted in celebration in front of their ecstatic fans, while the players from City collapsed to the ground, furious at having allowed a Derby triumph to elude them. This enormously important win for Erik ten Hag’s team continues their incredible comeback. United has gone 15 games without a loss in the Premier League and is clearly in the running for the championship since the awful 6-3 defeat at the Etihad back in October.  For the Red Devils, Rashford and Fernandes were the two most impressive players. Rashford’s incredible first goal set the tone, and Fernandes was fired up to convert that late penalty in such high-stress situations. Regarding City, they will feel cheated by the penalty call that turned out to be so important. It did not fulfil the requirements for a handball in the box, according to Guardiola and his teammates.  Still, they will rue defensive errors that ultimately cost them, like the marking of the first two goals by United. They continued to be a threat as usual, with Mahrez, De Bruyne, and Foden’s link-up play creating a multitude of issues. From the opening whistle to the very end, this thrilling derby had it all amazing skill, a tremendous atmosphere, intense dispute, and nonstop drama. In the most recent round of this intense rivalry, United deserves tremendous respect for managing to prevail in an iconic match, while City will undoubtedly feel hurt.

Exciting Final-Over Victory as CSK Beats MI in the IPL Classic

The Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, two of the league’s most successful teams, squared up in an IPL thriller Thursday night at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. MS Dhoni’s team managed to hold their composure and defeat the visiting five-time winners by 4 wickets in a match that went down to the last over.  CSK chose to bowl first, and their strategy was validated instantly as Deepak Chahar hit two wickets in his opening over, dismissing Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan for a cheap price. The Mumbai batsmen were never able to get going as Chahar (2/24) and the spin combo of Mahesh Theekshana (2/24) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/22) continued to strike often. Patient 51* under Tilak Varma’s care made sure MI recorded a strong 155/7 on the board.  In reply, CSK got off to a solid start but was soon reeling at 87/5 after a spate of wickets. When it appeared like Mumbai might pull off an unexpected victory, seasoned player MS Dhoni (28* off 13) came to the wicket to alter the course of the match. He launched an assault right away, smashing a couple of enormous sixes to cut the deficit to 17 off the last over. The stage was set for a grandstand conclusion with the audience standing. The onerous job of bowling to a player who has built a career out of completing run chases fell to young Mumbai pacer Mukesh Choudhary.  In typical “Dhoni” fashion, Dhoni took three balls to assess the situation before smashing the fourth delivery over long-on to bring up the winning runs. It was an appropriate way to round off an evening where the competition came and went. Fans saw why ‘Captain Cool’ is one of the most respected players to have ever graced the game for the nth time. He nearly single-handedly carried CSK across the finish line, demonstrating an unrivalled level of composure under duress.  Even though Dhoni was the shining star at the bat, Deepak Chahar’s flawless opening spell to destroy the formidable Mumbai top order also played a significant role in the outcome. In recent seasons, the swing bowler has developed a reputation for making significant breakthroughs during the powerplay. Shivam Dube was a major contributor to Chennai too. After making a crucial 33-run cameo with the bat, the big-hitting all-rounder returned with statistics of 1/26 from his four-seam bowling overs. Dube’s performance at this level is a testament to his enormous skill, which will thrill CSK.  For Mumbai, it was deja vu as their batting unit struggled to produce a consistent score. With a resolute half-century, Tilak Varma was the shining light, while youthful wonder Dewald Brevis displayed glimmers of his enormous potential with a 22-ball 28. Nonetheless, the batting unit was still being hindered by the top-order problems.  With the ball, Mukesh Choudhary had a dismal day, scoring 0/54 in his four overs and failing to provide a thrilling last stanza at bat. Going forward, more accountability for the killings will need to be placed on individuals like Riley Meredith and Jasprit Bumrah. Having pulled off a heist despite being in a dangerous situation during the run chase, the Super Kings will ultimately emerge victorious among the two teams. It would be unwise to count off CSK, especially with so many cunning veterans in their ranks like Dhoni and Jadeja.  A thrilling match between two elite players aiming to secure a postseason berth was presented to the Chepauk fans. We could be in for one of the most hotly contested IPL seasons in recent memory if yesterday provided any indication of what’s to come.

Holding off McIlroy’s Charge, Scheffler Wins an Exciting Masters

The 88th Masters Tournament, which took place at Augusta National Golf Club from April 6–9, 2024, captured the attention of the whole sports world. In Sunday’s final round, one of the most dramatic finishes in recent memory took place against the famous background of Georgian pines. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler led by three shots entering the last pairing with Rory McIlroy going into the final 18 holes. What happened next was a legendary clash between two of the best players in the game right now.  Scheffler sealed his position as the current top player in the game and his World #1 rating by winning. McIlroy, on the other hand, leaves Augusta still chasing his first Masters victory and the last piece of the Grand Slam career puzzle. The 33-year-old did, however, demonstrate that he is still a very gifted and psychologically strong competitor who will surely have more chances to cross the finish line at golf’s most important tournament. This titanic battle seemed like the start of a future competition between the greatest ball-strikers that may become legendary.  The dramatic action that took place amid the Georgia woods over the weekend captured the attention of the golfing world. Scheffler and McIlroy’s dramatic and consistent performance will undoubtedly be remembered as an Augusta classic for all time. Fans are bemoaning the lack of intensity in the final round that Tiger Woods’s comeback would have provided, but Scheffler vs. McIlroy proved to be more than entertaining in his absence. Their fight brought back thoughts of Pate vs. Kite, Hill vs. Olazabal, and a plethora of other memorable Augusta National fights.  The 2024 Masters included every element that makes the first major of the year such an exciting show, from heart-stopping momentum swings and jaw-dropping shotmaking to pressure-shredding moments. The ancient turf, blossoming azaleas, and flawless greens of Augusta offered the ideal environment for Scheffler, a player who transcends generations, to establish himself as a true champion in golf.  McIlroy’s efforts demonstrated why he remains one of the sport’s most intriguing box business attractions, even though he came up painfully short again. The new Masters champion and I engaged in a shot-for-shot sparring bout that had all the ups and downs of a real heavyweight fight. In the end, though, Scheffler proved to be a touch too cool under pressure and resilient. His most recent achievement has undoubtedly marked the beginning of what should be a long reign of supremacy at the top of the professional game.  The talented Texan will naturally relish his first big win, but the race to build on his Masters victory starts right now. The disappointment of missing out at Augusta again will soon fade for McIlroy as he turns his attention back to winning his career Grand Slam. There is no doubt that in the upcoming years, golf fans everywhere will be licking their lips at the thought of seeing more great matches between Scheffler and McIlroy. Even though their match in the Georgia woods was only a prelude, the main event could rank among the most famous rivalries in sports history.
