On the second day of the Hockey India League players’ auction, Belgium’s Victor Wegnez, was the most expensive player, costing Soorma Hockey Club Rs 40 lakh. The Dutch combination of Thierry Brinkman (Rs 38 lakh) and Arthur Van Doren (Rs 32 lakh), who were sold to Kalinga Lancers, were among the other well-known foreign players who were cut.
The other top purchases were Blake Govers (for Rs 27 lakh to Tamil Nadu Dragons), Australia’s Aran Zalewski (for Rs 27 lakh to Kalinga Lancers), and Tomas Domene (for Rs 36 lakh to Delhi SG Pipers).
The most expensive Indian purchase of the day was Moriangthem Rabichandra, who paid Rs 32 lakh to Kalinga Lancers.
With Angad Bir Singh going to Kalinga Lancers for Rs 26 lakh and Rajinder to Hyderabad Toofans for Rs 23 lakh, young players with a base price of Rs 2 lakh also had a great time at the auction.
All eight teams invested a lot of money on the first day to sign the Indian men’s hockey team’s best players. With a price tag of Rs 78 lakh, Harmanpreet Singh, who was purchased by Soorma Hockey Club, was the most costly purchase in the men’s HIL Player Auction.
The second-most costly acquisition was Abhishek, who was purchased by the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers for Rs 72 lakh, and Hardik Singh, who was purchased by the UP Rudras for Rs 70 lakh.
The most costly foreign player was Gonzalo Peillat of Germany, who was purchased for Rs 68 lakh, and Jip Janssen of the Netherlands, who joined the Tamil Nadu Dragons for Rs 54 lakh.
