PSG Cruise Past Marseille To Consolidate Top Spot, Monaco Lose

Following Monaco’s first-season loss, Paris Saint-Germain defeated their fierce rivals Marseille 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday, moving the champions three points clear at the top of Ligue 1. By the half, the awaited first Classique of the season was virtually over as PSG jumped out to a three-goal lead over Marseille, who had sent Amine Harit out with a straight red card halfway through the first half.  “It’s a very positive result,” Luis Enrique, the coach of PSG, stated. “When you win a Classique away from home with such authority, that is a given. “We honor this victory to the fans. For our place in the table and the fans, it is an important match”. Before a terrible 10-minute period just before the half-hour saw Marseille lose Harit and give up a second goal when captain Leonardo Balerdi turned into his net, Joao Neves gave the visitors the ideal start. Then, Bradley Barcola scored his eighth goal of the season and PSG’s third. Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille had a great start to the season and entered the game with the chance to win and move up to 20 points, their main rivals. It was a humiliating night for them. Instead, they lost their 12th consecutive home league match against PSG, with hundreds of their fans leaving by halftime. “I am disappointed. We had planned a pairing of daring and personality. But until Harit was sent off, there was no daring or personality,” De Zerbi explained. “It wasn’t the match we expected, which is an issue. We can lose, but wearing the Marseille shirt requires personality and courage,” the Italian coach added. Neves, a Portuguese midfielder, scored his first Classique goal seven minutes in after capitalizing on goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli’s handling error. In the 20th minute, Harit was sent off for hurting Marquinhos in the stomach with a high boot, swinging the contest decisively in PSG’s favor. “The sending-off changed the game,” explained Luis Enrique. “From then on, the match was harder for our opponents and less open.” As if to exacerbate Marseille’s woes, Balerdi extended the away team’s advantage nine minutes later, stretching to cut out a seemingly straightforward cross and knocking the ball past the advancing Rulli and into the net. PSG’s Barcola added the final touch five minutes before halftime, capitalizing on Ousmane Dembele’s determined buildup play. ‘Two stupid mistakes’ Earlier, high-flying Monaco missed out on a chance to take top of the table as they fell 2-1 to neighbors Nice. Breel Embolo gave the visitors the lead in the first half, but Nice rallied through Evann Guessand and Gaetan Laborde to hand 10-man Monaco its first domestic defeat. The principality side remains in second place with 20 points, three behind leaders PSG. “I’m not happy with the result,” stated Monaco coach Adi Huetter.  “When you lose a derby, everyone is disappointed, that is obvious. But we are guilty since we were in control of the game. It comes down to two foolish mistakes.” Embolo broke the deadlock for Monaco in the 39th minute, finishing cleanly after being set up by Maghnes Akliouche’s through pass. However, the match shifted in first-half stoppage time when Guessand equalized for Nice, and Monaco’s Brazilian defender Vanderson received a second yellow card. Monaco lost because of a badly performed corner routine, allowing Laborde to run through fully unopposed before finishing on 71 minutes. Lyon drew 2-2 at home against Auxerre, moving up to seventh place in the league. Georges Mikautadze twice put the hosts ahead, but they were pegged back by Sinaly Diomande and Hamed Traore. Strasbourg moved into the top half of the standings by defeating Nantes 3-1, due to a brace from Andrey Santos and a Dilane Bakwa goal. Zakaria Aboukhlal scored twice in the first 10 minutes to lead Toulouse to a 3-0 triumph over lowly Montpellier. For more latest updates, visit www.24x7sportshub.com.

Watch: Virat Kohli In Disarray After Bizarre Dismissal, Swings His Bat In Frustration

After getting clean bowled for just one run by Mitchell Santner, India’s talismanic batsman Virat Kohli wasted yet another chance to get back to his best. Following Shubman Gill’s dismissal of LBW for 30 runs in the morning session of the second Test in Pune, Kohli came out to bat.  When he played his ninth ball of the innings, Virat Kohli miscalculated the ball’s direction, causing him to smash his stumps. In the first innings of the second Test, Kohli once again let the fans down with his bat after struggling in the first innings of the Bengaluru Test against the Kiwis. Kohli got yorked while attempting to sweep a longer delivery from Santner; the ball passed through the space between his bat and the ball and struck the stumps. When Kohli realized he would have to walk back to the pavilion, his expression was one of shock. Since 2021, Virat Kohli has not performed as effectively against spinners in Asia. In the 26 innings that he has played, Virat Kohli has amassed 606 runs and been removed 21 times. He had a strike rate of 49.67 and an average of 28.85 in these games. Kohli hasn’t recently displayed the kind of form that made him a world-beater, regardless of the format. In the ICC Test rankings for batsmen, Rishabh Pant just surpassed him as well. With seven wickets in the first innings, Washington Sundar led India in wicket-taking, while Ashwin added three more to help the Kiwis be bowled out for 259 runs. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, was removed for a duck on the ninth ball he faced, failing to put up a significant score. For more latest cricket updates, visit www.24x7sportshub.com.

Serena Williams Has Grapefruit-Sized Cyst Removed From Neck

The 23-time Grand Slam singles winner Serena Williams said Wednesday that she had a grapefruit-sized cyst removed from her neck and is recovering well. In a TikTok video, the 43-year-old former world number one in women’s tennis revealed that she discovered a lump on the right side of her neck in May, and an MRI revealed that it was a brachial cyst.  “I’m improving, but I’m still recovering. “Health comes first at all times,” Serena Williams wrote on X. Serena Williams did not have the cyst removed right away, but she did have surgery to have it removed after it grew larger and she had a biopsy and several tests. “I discovered a large lump on my neck. In the video, she added, “I was embarrassed by it.” “I had testing done. Everything you could think of. It was all bad. It turned out that I had a cyst—more specifically, a brachial cyst. “I ultimately had to have it taken out. It was huge. It hurt somewhat to come out, and it was about the size of a grapefruit. Because it was so large, they needed to put in a drain, but everything turned out fine, and I’m glad I got to work with such wonderful doctors. “A little scared here but excited to move on to the next steps of healing and getting well.” After the procedure, Serena Williams and her daughter Olympia were shown on a promised shopping journey at the end of her film. The description for the video reads, “I’m feeling so grateful and fortunate everything worked out and most of all I’m healthy,” Serena Williams wrote. “As promised, I still made it to American Doll with Olympia. “And yes all is ok.” The 2017 Australian Open was Serena Williams’ final Grand Slam victory, whereas the 1999 US Open was her first. Before retiring following the 2022 US Open, she won three French Open titles, six US Opens, seven Australian Opens, and seven Wimbledons. For the latest updates, visit www.24x7sportshub.com.

Paul Pogba ‘Willing To Give Up Money’ To Stay At Juventus

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday, Paul Pogba stated that he is determined to return from his reduced doping penalty with Juventus, even if it means taking a wage reduction. “I’m willing to give up money to be able to play again with Juve, I want to come back with this club,” Paul Pogba stated in an interview that was posted on the website of the Italian sports daily.  “The reality is that I am a Juve player and preparing to play for Juve.” Pogba presently earns eight million euros ($8.684 million) annually, and his deal with the Italian powerhouses expires in June 2026. During his continuous suspension, the midfield player only receives the minimal wage outlined in the Serie A collective agreement—just over €2,000 per month. Juventus is reportedly looking to end Pogba’s contract even after his ban was lowered, according to Italian media. “A new Paul Pogba will emerge—one that is stronger, smarter, and more ravenous. “All I want to do is play football,” the former Manchester United player continued. “I want to be ready to train and play for Juve, I’m a Juve player, in my mind, that’s all there is at the moment.” Paul Pogba can resume playing on March 11 of next year, four days before his 32nd birthday, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lowered his four-year doping ban to 18 months earlier in October. Following a Juventus vs. Udinese game in Italy in August 2023, Paul Pogba tested positive for testosterone.  In September of the same year, he received a preliminary suspension; the following February, the Italian National Anti-Doping Tribunal banned him for four years. According to Paul Pogba’s agents, the testosterone was obtained from a dietary supplement that was recommended by a physician he saw in the United States. France Coach Trusts Kolo Muani Brings The Win Over Belgium | 24x7 Sportshub

France Coach Trusts On Kolo Muani Brings The Win Over Belgium.

In their Nations League A Group 2 match on Monday, France defeated Belgium 2-1 on the road thanks to the double from striker Randal Kolo Muani, earning the coach’s praise and a first-round trip to the quarterfinals. With a second booking for captain Aurelien Tchouameni, France finished the encounter with 10 men after Kolo Muani scored a penalty and a header in the second half to help them hold off the competitive home team. Kolo Muani has scored four goals in as many appearances for France this season, despite being a rare starter for Paris Saint-Germain. Deschamps told TF1, “He’s radiant; he’s interesting.” “He exudes confidence and possesses a distinct profile in which he exhibits presence during his ball runs. He makes an excellent header and frequently has success playing with us.” Belgium controlled the first few possessions and had the lead if Youri Tielemans hadn’t missed a penalty. “We were shaken for the first 20 to 25 minutes where they (Belgium) put in a lot of intensity, while we made a lot of technical errors,” Deschamps said. “When we could find solutions going forward, it was better for us.” The players needed to be shaken up. Regarding what we said and what the players had expressed, we mostly needed to cool down because of our faults. We have to advance and exert good pressure. They had opportunities, of course, but in the second half, so did we. Especially with ten men, we’re glad to have won this match.” The fact that France’s star player, Kylian Mbappe, was out from their most recent Nations League games and that their starting lineup included several less seasoned players made Deschamps’ victory sweeter. “It’s a young team that doesn’t have much experience,” he stated. “(For this match), there was seriousness and enthusiasm. “Winning these kinds of games is preferable.” After four games, Italy has accumulated 10 points, nine more than France, and Belgium has four points. The top two advance to the quarterfinals, which take place in March of the following year.

Women's T20 World Cup
Cricket, News

Pakistan can save India from the elimination of Women’s T20 World Cup and stop an 8-year embarrassment.

After losing to Australia, India was on the verge of an embarrassing group-stage elimination at the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup. India has exited the competition for the earliest time in eight years, having experienced the same fate three times in a row in 2012, 2014, and 2016.  They had advanced to the semifinals in three of the previous editions, and one of those saw them reach the final. To secure a spot in the semifinals, India had to defeat the current champions by a significant margin. India had the potential to top the table if they had defeated Australia’s net run rate.  Despite captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s undefeated half-century, Australia’s pursuit of 152 was not enough as they held India to 142 for nine in 20 overs. India appeared to be well-positioned in the chase, and Harmanpreet had help from Deepti Sharma as they struck a string of boundaries to rekindle India’s hopes.  Harmanpreet was left despondent after Sophie Molineux dismissed the left-hander and Annabel Sutherland went through the rest of the line-up, taking three wickets in her final over. How Pakistan could keep India from losing the Women’s T20 World Cup campaign With the victory, Australia advanced to the semifinals for the ninth time in a row, having never failed to qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup. Conversely, India finished their campaign with four points from four games and presently holds the second position in the Group A points standings. With one match remaining in Group A, they can still go to the semifinals. India might go to the semifinals if their bitter rival Pakistan defeats New Zealand on Monday at the Dubai International Stadium, even if it is by a narrow margin. The White Ferns would finish the tournament with four points and a lower NRR than the Women in Blue. In Group A, Pakistan will want to try their luck at pulling off a complete show-stopper. They may defeat India to join Australia in the semifinals if they win by a margin of 47 to 60 runs when they bat first against New Zealand or if they manage to reach the goal in fewer than 10 overs. India would be formally eliminated from the Women’s T20 World Cup event if New Zealand wins, regardless of the margin, as the Sophie Devine-led team will have six points at the end of the competition. England defeated Pakistan
Cricket, News

Pakistan suffered a humiliating first in 147-year Test history, losing by innings despite a 500+ score vs England

On the fifth day of the first Test, England defeated Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs, securing a decisive victory. Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed was unable to bat owing to illness, therefore Pakistan’s chances of a comeback were dashed as they resumed on 152-6 in their second innings, managing only 220-9.  With four wickets to cement England’s supremacy following their crushing 823-7d in the first innings, Jack Leach was instrumental in destroying Pakistan’s lower order and denying the hosts any hope of rallying. Pakistan’s miserable run of defeats set new records as they became the first team to lose a Test match by an innings despite amassing over 500 runs in the opening innings.  Pakistan’s difficulties in the longest format were demonstrated by this, their sixth straight Test loss and their seventh home loss in the previous nine games. Day 5: England’s fast bowlers hit the two overnight batsmen, Aamer Jamal and Agha Salman, with bouncers early in the day. Jamal recovered after being struck by a ball with a flaming bounce from Brydon Carse, which brought up his half-century. Then, England’s fifth failed catch of the innings came when stand-in skipper Ollie Pope dropped a tough opportunity at square leg, giving him a lifeline. He finished on 55 not out. After removing Shaheen Afridi with a spectacular catch off his bowling, Leach had Naseem Shah stumped to complete the victory. There was nothing to be gained for the bowlers on the flat Multan wicket, but England produced an incredible performance. After losing the toss and spending more than a day and a half on the field, Pakistan scored 556 runs, setting the stage with an incredible 823 runs, led by Joe Root’s career-best 262 and Harry Brook’s first-ever triple century. Sixth consecutive loss Since taking over for Babar Azam as captain, Pakistan has lost six straight games under Shan Masood’s leadership. He could not have started his captaincy any worse. Pakistan has lost the first Test in Multan, two at home against Bangladesh, and three on the road against Australia. Pakistan is struggling at the bottom of the standings with only two wins in eight matches during the current cycle, meaning their chances of making it to the World Test Championship final are all but gone.
