After announcing their retirement from the test format, fans are speculating whether they will return in the India ODI Schedule 2025.
Rohit Sharma stepped down from his test captaincy and retired last week. Within a few days, Virat Kohli also left a heartfelt thank you message on his Instagram handle stating that he is retiring from the red ball format. With the void not easy to fill up, fans question whether they could be able to see these veteran stars on the field as Men in Blue.
The first call-off by Virat and Rohit was from the T20I format after India won the cup against South Africa. This year the India’s Champions Trophy saw the senior players hitting the final knock, Virat Kohli being the second-highest run-getter with a century against Australia and Rohit Sharma beating up New Zealand with 76 runs.
After wrapping up the IPL finals on June 3, 2025, both players will go for a longer absence from the cricket leagues of 2025. They can be seen in the next 50-over World Cup scheduled in 2027.

2023 ODI World Cup Final
In order to decide the victor of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, a one-day international cricket match was held on November 19, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. It was played between Australia and the host country, India. Ahmedabad hosted a Cricket World Cup final for the first time. After the 2003 final, this was the second time India and Australia faced off in a World Cup final.
Australia won a record-tying sixth World Cup after defeating India in the final. Given that India, who are greatly favored, has gone undefeated throughout the tournament, this match is regarded as one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.
